Lake Nakuru shelters both white and black rhino, Rothschild's giraffe, lions and leopards, and the lake itself can host flamingos in the thousands when water levels are right. Common questions
Are the flamingos always there?
Flamingo numbers change with the lake's water level and food supply. The park is worthwhile for rhinos and giraffe either way — we'll tell you what's been happening on the lake before you book.
Can Lake Nakuru be a day trip from Nairobi?
It's a long day but doable. We recommend overnighting, or combining it with the Maasai Mara on a 4–5 day circuit.
